Gemini is Google’s AI assistant, and it works in Georgia and in Georgian: Google lists Georgia among supported countries and Georgian among supported languages. All you need is a Google account and gemini.google.com or the Gemini app. The free version already does a lot: chat, images with Nano Banana, Deep Research and connections to Gmail, Calendar and Drive.
Everything below is as of October 2026.
For a map of other tools by task, see AI apps in 2026: which AI tool to use for what.
How to start using Gemini: web and app
- On the web, open gemini.google.com and sign in with your Google account.
- On your phone, download the Gemini app from Google Play or the App Store and check that the publisher is Google. Google lists Georgia among the countries where the Gemini app is available on Google Play.
- Language. The web app uses your browser or device language. Whatever the interface language, Gemini understands and replies in any supported language you type or speak in Gemini Live. Some features, such as Gemini’s voice setting, are not available in every language.
- Age. With a personal account you must be 13 or over (or the minimum age in your country), and 18 or over with a work account. For children under 13, access is off by default and a parent can turn it on in Family Link.
What Gemini does best: Gmail, Calendar and Drive
Gemini’s main advantage is its link to Google’s own services. Through Connected Apps, Gemini can:
- in Gmail, Docs and Drive, find and summarise information and answer questions about your emails and documents;
- in Google Calendar, create and manage events;
- in Google Keep and Google Tasks, save notes, lists and reminders;
- with YouTube, work through a separate connected app.
What you need: the same account in Gemini and Gmail, Keep Activity turned on (without it Gemini cannot connect to Gmail and Drive) and smart features turned on in Gmail settings. In a new chat, name the service or type @ and pick it.
Know the limits too: Gemini cannot see attachments, comments or images in emails and documents, cannot create folders or move files in Drive, and cannot count how many emails or files you have.
One detail for Georgian users: the Gemini that appears directly inside Gmail and Docs on paid plans (the side panel) does not list Georgian among its supported languages. For work in Georgian, use the Gemini app and ask it to read Gmail or Drive for you.
Gems and skills: your own assistant with saved instructions
A Gem is a version of Gemini with your instructions and knowledge files, such as “Georgian editor” or “lesson plan assistant”. An important change: starting in November 2026, Gems go away on personal accounts and automatically become skills. A skill is a reusable instruction: type “/” and its name in a chat, or let Gemini apply it when it is relevant. You can combine several skills in one chat.
Skills work without a paid plan, but you must be 18 or over and have Keep Activity on. If you rebuild a Gem by hand, download its knowledge files one by one and upload them to the skill. Keep the instruction short and exact:
Name: Georgian editor
Instruction: You are a Georgian language editor. In the text you
receive, fix noun cases, verb forms, commas and phrases calqued
from English. Do not change the content. At the end, list in a
table what it was, what it became and why.Deep Research, Canvas and Gemini Notebook for study and research
- Deep Research reads many sources and builds a report with links. It is available on the free plan too, but without a subscription it may be unavailable at times of high demand.
- Canvas is a space for editing text and code. Every plan also includes slide generation, quizzes and flashcards, audio overviews and Storybook (illustrated stories).
- Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) bases its answers only on the sources you add. Google renamed NotebookLM on 16 July 2026. It remains a standalone product, and you can also create notebooks from the Gemini app. Audio Overviews can be generated in more than 80 languages, including Georgian. See the Gemini Notebook guide for details.
For teachers this combination is especially useful: from one topic’s materials you can prepare a study guide, a quiz and an audio overview. A full worked example is in preparing teaching materials with AI.

Image generation and editing with Nano Banana 2 is on every plan, including free. From Google AI Plus upwards you can also redo images with Nano Banana Pro. Video generation in the Gemini app is on paid plans only (Plus, Pro, Ultra). In Flow, Google’s creative studio, paid plans include credits and the Gemini Omni Flash video model.
Georgian lettering inside images is still unreliable, so add text afterwards in a design tool such as Canva. Tools and prompts are compared in how to create images with AI.
Gemini plans and prices in Georgia
These are the prices Google’s plans page showed for Georgia in October 2026:
| Plan | Price per month | Model | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 GEL | Flash-Lite | Chat, images, Deep Research, Gemini Live, 15 GB |
| Google AI Plus | 15 GEL | Flash | 2x limits, video, Gemini in Gmail, 400 GB |
| Google AI Pro | 59 GEL | Gemini 4 Argon, Pro | 4x limits, Gemini in Docs, 5 TB |
| Google AI Ultra | 250 or 599 GEL | Gemini 4 Argon, Pro | 5x or 20x the Pro limits |
Limits refresh every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit. The context window (how much text Gemini can keep in mind in one chat) is 32,000 tokens without a plan, 128,000 on Plus and 1 million on Pro and Ultra. Google AI paid plans are for ages 18 and over.
For students: in October 2026, Google’s student page, opened from Georgia, showed one year of Google AI Plus at no cost for eligible college students aged 18 and over who verify their status. You can redeem it until 31 December 2026, a payment card is required at sign-up, and after the year it renews at 15 GEL a month unless you cancel.
How good is Gemini in Georgian?
Georgian is officially supported in the Gemini app, and general text, explanations and translations often come out well. The weak spots are the same as for other assistants: noun cases in long sentences, calques from English, rare terms, Georgian names and local facts. Quality improves with a clear instruction (“in natural, modern Georgian”), a sample of your own text and a term list. Always check names, dates and numbers yourself.
Create one skill called Georgian editor (the instruction is above) and run every important text through it before sending. The table of changes shows where the model most often slips, so you can prevent it in your next prompts.
Privacy: Keep Activity and temporary chats
As of October 2026, these rules apply to a personal Gemini account:
- Keep Activity on: chats are saved, and Google uses them to improve its services, including training generative AI models. A subset of chats is read by human reviewers; those are disconnected from your account and kept for up to 3 years.
- Auto-delete defaults to 18 months. You can change it to 3 or 36 months, or turn it off.
- Keep Activity off: new chats are not used for training (unless you send feedback), but they are still kept for 72 hours.
- Temporary chats are not reviewed by humans and are kept for 72 hours.
Mind the trade-off: the Gmail and Drive connection and skills need Keep Activity on. Decide what matters more to you, and never put passwords, ID numbers, health data or clients’ data into a personal account.
Worked example: a weekly plan from Gmail and Calendar
This works in the Gemini app, in Georgian or English, and takes about 10 minutes.
- Check that Keep Activity is on. When you mention Gmail, Gemini offers to connect Google Workspace.
- Paste the prompt:
Search my Gmail for emails from the last 7 days where someone is
waiting for a reply or a task from me. List them as a table: who,
what they need, deadline. Then check my Google Calendar for next
week’s meetings and build a day-by-day plan: meetings, tasks from
the emails and two-hour blocks for focused work.
Do not add anything to my calendar yet.- Compare the table with your inbox: Gemini cannot read attachments and may miss an important email.
- When the plan looks right, ask: “Add a block on Monday 10:00–12:00 to my Calendar called ‘Prepare offers’.” Check the new event in your calendar.
- Save the prompt as a skill to reuse every Monday. On paid plans you can also turn it into a scheduled action.

Gemini vs ChatGPT: which should you choose?
If your email, calendar and files live in Google, Gemini is the natural choice: it reads those services directly, and Deep Research and images are on the free plan too. ChatGPT’s strengths are projects with files, voice mode and agents; see how to use ChatGPT in Georgia. The most reliable test is to run the same task in both and compare. For a detailed three-way comparison, read ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.
Frequently asked questions
Is Gemini free?
Yes. With a Google account, Gemini is free with the Flash-Lite model: chat, images, Deep Research, Gemini Live and Gemini Notebook. Paid plans (Plus, Pro, Ultra) add higher limits, stronger models and video generation.
How do I use Gemini in Georgian?
Set Georgian as your browser or device language for a Georgian interface. Whatever the interface language, Gemini answers Georgian questions in Georgian.
What is the difference between Gemini and Gemini Notebook?
Gemini is a general assistant that uses the web and Google services. Gemini Notebook (formerly NotebookLM) works only with the sources you add and shows where each answer comes from. For studying and working with documents, it is often the better choice.
What is the minimum age for Gemini?
13 with a personal account (or the minimum age in your country) and 18 with a work account. For children under 13, a parent manages access through Family Link. Paid plans and skills are for ages 18 and over.
Can Gemini read my Gmail?
Only if you connect Google Workspace to Gemini and Keep Activity is on. You can disconnect it at any time in Gemini’s Connected Apps settings.
What happens to my Gems?
Starting in November 2026, Gems on personal accounts automatically become skills, so you do not need to rebuild them. Work and school accounts follow later, in 2027.
