Claude AI is Anthropic’s AI assistant, and it is especially good with long documents, careful writing, analysis and code. Using Claude at work comes down to three features: Projects, which hold your files and instructions; Skills, which package tasks you repeat; and Claude Code, which works on files and code by itself. You can start for free at claude.ai.

Prices and features below are as of October 2026 and change often. For an overview of the other assistants, see AI apps in 2026: which AI tool to use for what.

What is Claude AI and what is it good at?

Claude is made by the US company Anthropic and runs in the browser, as a desktop app and on mobile. Opus is its most capable model family, Sonnet balances speed and quality, and Haiku is the fastest. The free plan has Sonnet and Haiku; Opus needs a paid plan.

Where Claude helps most:

  • Long documents. Upload a contract, report or manual and ask questions about it.
  • Careful writing and editing. Keeping a tone, building a structure, shortening a text without losing the point.
  • Analysis. Calculations with code execution and new files: Excel, Word, PowerPoint or PDF.
  • Code. Small scripts in chat, real projects with Claude Code.

Photo generation is not listed in Claude’s plans, so for images use other tools: see how to create images with AI.

Claude plans and prices (October 2026)

Usage limits reset on a rolling five-hour window, and paid plans add weekly limits; Pro gives at least five times the Free usage per session. Start free and upgrade only if you keep hitting the limit or want Claude Code.

As of October 2026, the pricing page also announces that Claude Cowork, the agent for working with your files and apps, is merging into regular Claude, rolling out to Pro and Max first.

How to get started, the age rule and Claude in Georgian

  1. Open claude.ai or download the official app, and subscribe only there.
  2. Create an account. Anthropic’s consumer terms require users to be at least 18.
  3. Georgia is on Anthropic’s list of supported countries, so you can use Claude from Tbilisi.
  4. On day one, check your privacy settings (see below).

You can write to Claude in Georgian. Georgian is not in the benchmark table in Anthropic’s documentation, but the company says Claude works in many languages beyond those listed and recommends testing your own. General text is often good; rare terms and idioms can go wrong. Three habits help:

  • Write in Georgian script, not Latin transliteration (qartulad): Anthropic recommends native scripts.
  • State the language: “Reply in natural, modern Georgian that does not read like a translation.”
  • Keep a glossary in your project instructions so terms stay consistent.

Claude Projects: an assistant that knows your files

A project is a workspace with its own chat history, knowledge base (Project knowledge) and instructions. Upload files once, and every chat in the project uses them.

As of October 2026, free users can create up to five projects. On paid plans, as the knowledge base grows, Claude switches on RAG mode and expands capacity up to ten times. Team and Enterprise users can share a project with “Can view” or “Can edit” permissions.

How to set up your first project:

  1. Choose Projects in the left menu and create one, for example “Prices and offers 2026”.
  2. In the instructions, set the role, tone, language and limits: “Never invent a price that is not in the spreadsheet.”
  3. Upload 3–10 key files: the price list, FAQs, an email template.
  4. Open a chat inside the project and ask three test questions you already know the answers to.

Artifacts, Skills and connectors

Artifacts. An artifact is a piece of work Claude creates next to the chat: a document, code, a small web page or an interactive tool such as a price calculator. You can edit and share it, on the free plan too.

Skills. A skill is a folder of instructions, scripts and resources that Claude loads only when a task needs it. Anthropic provides skills for creating Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PDF files, which Claude uses automatically, and you can write your own in Markdown, such as “a sales offer in our template”. Skills are on every plan (Customize, then Skills); code execution must be on.

Connectors. The Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive connectors are available to all users: Claude can search and read email, draft replies, see your calendar and read Drive files. By default it asks for your approval before sending an email or sharing or deleting a file. Keep that approval on.

When Claude plans its own steps and uses tools, it works as an agent: see AI agents explained. If the same steps repeat every day, an automation fits better than an agent: your first AI workflow with n8n, Make or Zapier.

Claude Code: what it is, who it is for and what it costs

Claude Code is an agentic coding tool: it reads your codebase, edits files, runs commands and connects to your tools. You describe the task in plain language; it plans, writes code across several files and checks that it works.

Claude Code price. There is no separate price: it is included in every paid plan from Pro upwards and shares your plan’s limits. The alternative is an Anthropic Console account billed by API usage. It is not on the free plan.

For developers on macOS and Linux (in Windows PowerShell: irm https://claude.ai/install.ps1 | iex):

curl -fsSL https://claude.ai/install.sh | bash
cd your-project
claude

For non-programmers, the Code tab in the desktop app is easier, with no terminal. Example tasks: one summary table from a folder of invoices, a simple landing page, sorting and renaming files. Work on a copy first, read every permission request, and put the project rules in a CLAUDE.md file, which Claude Code reads at the start of every session.

Worked example: a price list and an offer letter from a spreadsheet

A small woodworking studio in Tbilisi keeps its prices in Excel. It needs a retail price list and an offer for a café ordering 40 wooden trays:

  1. Prepare the sheet. Columns: product, unit cost (GEL), margin (%), stock. One product per row, no merged cells, saved as XLSX or CSV.
  2. Create a project with instructions: prices in GEL rounded to 0.50, text in Georgian, polite and brief.
  3. Ask Claude to check the sheet and calculate prices (prompt 1).
  4. Ask for an Excel file with formulas, so you can check it.
  5. Ask for the letter (prompt 2).
  6. Check: recalculate three random prices by hand and read the names and dates.
Prompt 1
For each product in the uploaded sheet, calculate the retail price:
unit cost × (1 + margin), rounded to the nearest 0.50 GEL.
Run the calculation in code. First list any problems in the sheet
(empty cells, negative margins, duplicate products), then create
an Excel file with the columns: product, price, stock.

Prompt 2
Write a sales offer to Café [name] for 40 wooden trays and
40 coasters. Take prices only from our sheet. Production time is
10 working days and the offer is valid for 14 days. Under 150
words, ending with one question about the delivery address.
Do not invent anything that is not in the sheet.

Once it works reliably, turn the instructions into a skill.

Tip from the lab

Do not let Claude do the maths in its head. Ask it to run the calculation in code or write Excel formulas. You can then check every price, and a mistake shows up in one cell, not in a letter already sent to a client.

Claude vs ChatGPT: which should you choose?

Both handle everyday work well, so choose by task:

Privacy: what to check on day one

  • Model Improvement. On personal accounts, chats are used to improve models if this option is on in your privacy settings, or if a conversation is flagged for safety review.
  • Incognito chats are not used to improve Claude, even with Model Improvement on.
  • Feedback. If you rate a response, the whole conversation may be stored for up to 5 years.
  • The rule. No ID numbers, passwords, health data or client information in a personal account. Work data needs a Team or Enterprise plan and company rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is Claude AI free?

Yes, with chat, web search, file creation, Artifacts, Skills, connectors and up to five projects. Claude Code, Research and Opus need a paid plan.

Does Claude work in Georgian?

Yes, you can chat in Georgian, although Georgian is not in Anthropic’s benchmark table and the company recommends testing your language. Write in Georgian script and have a person read anything official.

How much does Claude Code cost?

It comes with every paid plan from Pro upwards (as of October 2026, $20 a month or $17 with annual billing) and uses your plan’s limits. For heavy use there is Max or an API account.

What is the minimum age for Claude?

Anthropic’s consumer terms require users to be at least 18, so Claude is not for school students. For children and teenagers, see AI for kids: how to teach it safely.

What is the difference between Claude Projects and Skills?

A project is a workspace for one topic: files, instructions and chats together. A skill is a recipe for a repeated task that Claude uses in any chat when the task calls for it.
